🏥 Unit Overview

• Unit Type: Stepdown / PCU
• Beds: 30
• Patient Ratio: 1:4–6 (based on acuity)

📍 Submission Requirements

• 50-mile radius rule applies
• Must include copy of unexpired Driver’s License
• All licensing hits must be disclosed at time of submission

📜 Required Certifications

• BLS
• ACLS

🩺 Patient Population

• Cardiac patients
• Post pneumonia
• Post cath lab
• Seizures
• ETOH (CIWA protocols)
• Pacemakers

✅ Must-Have Skills

• Minimum 2 years Stepdown/PCU experience
• Strong cardiac monitoring skills
• Experience with cardiac drips

💉 Drips & Responsibilities

• Titration required: Yes
• Common drips:
  • Cardizem
  • Amiodarone
  • Nitro
  • Heparin
  • Dopamine
  • Dobutamine
  • Angiomax

👩‍⚕️ Support Staff

• Charge Nurse:
  • Days: No patient assignment (unless needed)
  • Nights: Light assignment
• Patient Care Techs: Yes
  • Duties: ADLs, vitals, bathing, feeding, repositioning, call lights, blood sugars

🏥 Coverage & Support

• Physician Coverage:
  • Primary attending (on-call nights)
  • Nocturnist available hospital-wide
• Respiratory Therapy: 24/7 (assigned to unit)
  • RT manages BiPAP, Airvo, trachs, etc.
  • RN expected to troubleshoot

📡 Telemetry

• Monitor techs available 24/7
• RN responsibilities:
  • Read & interpret rhythms
  • Print strips
  • Perform measurements

⏰ Scheduling

• Shift: 7:00–7:00 (6:45–7:15)
• Scheduling: Self-scheduling allowed (subject to final approval)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holidays: Rotational
• On-call: Not required

🔄 Floating

• Travelers float to any inpatient unit
• Travelers are first to float

👕 Dress Code

• Navy Blue scrubs
