🏥 ICU Travel RN – Job Summary

🚨 Must-Have Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years recent ICU experience (NO exceptions)
  • Must have Neuro OR Cardiovascular (CV) experience
  • First-time travelers OK (if experience meets criteria)

🏥 Unit Details

Surgical ICU (Primary Unit)

  • 32 beds
  • Level 1 Trauma Center
  • Patient ratio: 1:2 or 1:1

Medical/Cardiac ICU + Overflow

  • 36 beds + 12 overflow
  • Same ratios: 1:2 or 1:1
  • Expected to float between all ICU units

🩺 Patient Types / Cases

  • Trauma (GSW, MVA, blunt trauma, falls)
  • Neuro: CVA, crani, post-TPA
  • Cardiac: CABG, TAVR, Impella, ECMO
  • Medical: Sepsis, ARDS, COVID, DKA

💉 Skills Required

  • Drip titration REQUIRED
  • Common drips:
    • Sedation: Propofol, Fentanyl, Precedex, Versed
    • Pressors: Levophed, Vasopressin, Dopamine, Dobutamine
    • Others: Heparin, Insulin, Ketamine, Paralytics

📜 Certifications

  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NIHSS

👩‍⚕️ Unit Setup

  • No nurse aides (only sitters/unit secretary)
  • Charge nurse (no patient load)
  • 24/7 Intensivist & Respiratory Therapy
  • RNs must read their own telemetry strips
  • Equipment: Drager, Hamilton, PB 840, BiPAP, Airvo

🕒 Scheduling

  • Self-scheduling (manager may adjust)
  • Weekend requirement:
    • 3 weekends per 4 weeks
    • Nights: Fri–Sat
    • Days: Sat–Sun
  • No call required
  • May be low census up to 3 shifts per contract

🎯 Floating

  • Float to:
    • Other ICUs
    • Tele (ratio 1:3–1:4)

👕 Dress Code

  • Navy scrubs
