Job Description: RN – Medical (Varied Shifts)

Job Type: Contract

Contract Length: 13 weeks (Scheduled 36 hours/week following first full week of orientation)
Shift: Day or Night Shift (TBD) – Variable shift lengths and days
Expected Hours: No guarantee of hours or shift preference

Position Overview

This role requires an experienced Med-Surg Registered Nurse to provide medical acute-level care for adult patients (18+). Flexibility is essential, as the RN will work varied shift lengths, varied days, and must be open to floating to other units such as Surgical Pediatrics or Transitional Care Units when needed.

Any candidate without an active Hawaii RN license must apply immediately upon offer acceptance and must hold the Hawaii license before the start of the assignment.
Holiday RTO requests are not accepted.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care for adult patients in a medical acute setting
• Manage a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5
• Float to additional units as needed (Surg Peds, Transitional Care)
• Utilize unit equipment and systems including:
  • Meditech EMR
  • Pyxis
  • Wound vacs
  • Chest tubes
• Adhere to professional nursing standards and patient safety protocols
• Participate in orientation and unit-specific training during the first week

Requirements

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of Med-Surg experience (or higher level of care)

Licensure

• Active Hawaii RN License required by start
• Candidates without Hawaii licensure must apply upon offer acceptance

Certifications

• BLS – Required
• ACLS – Preferred

Additional Requirements

• Must arrive Thursday before assignment begins to attend mandatory Employee Health appointment on Friday
• Must be flexible with workdays, shift lengths, and floating expectations
