🏥 Med Tele RN – 8N | Quick Overview

🛏️ Unit Details

• Beds: 27
• Ratios:
  • Days/Eves: 1:4–5
  • Nights: 1:6 (can go up to 1:7 if short)

🩺 Patient Population

• Oncology/Hematology (no chemo required)
• GI Bleed, PE/DVT
• Sepsis, CHF, COPD
• Pneumonia, weakness, FTT, general medical

✅ Must-Have Skills

• Acute care experience required
• Comfortable with complex patients
• Experience with drips is a must
• Travel experience preferred (not required)

💉 Drips & Procedures

• RN titration required: Yes
• Common drips:
  • Insulin, Heparin, Cardizem
  • Nitro, Amiodarone, Octreotide
• Must be comfortable with blood transfusions

📟 Telemetry

• Central tele techs monitor rhythms
• RN not required to read strips but must be tele-aware

👩‍⚕️ Support Staff

• Charge Nurse + House Supervisor on all shifts
• Charge takes assignment:
  • Days: 1:2–3
  • Nights: 1:4
• Nurse Aides:
  • Days/Eves: 1:7–9
  • Nights: up to 1:14
• RT available 24/7

🕒 Schedule

• Days: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (flexibility may be required)
• Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Block scheduling: Not guaranteed (but considered)

📅 Requirements

• Weekends: Every other (Fri–Sun)
• Holidays:
  • Winter: 2/3 required
  • Others: Every other
• Call: ❌ None

🔄 Floating

• First to float within Med-Surg units
• Outside unit: only for task/help roles
• Floating in 4-hour increments

👕 Dress Code

• Any scrub color (no other hospital logos)

📚 Orientation

• 1 day: classroom/compliance
• 1 shift: on the unit
