Job Description: RN – Medical Unit (Day Shift)

Hours: 36 hours/week (after first full week of orientation)
Shift: Day Shift (subject to change; flexibility required)

Position Overview

A Medical Unit is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a day-shift contract assignment. Candidates must be flexible with scheduling, as the role requires varied shift lengths and varied workdays. There is no guarantee of hours or shift preference.

Applicants without an active Hawaii RN license must apply immediately upon offer acceptance. A valid Hawaii license is required prior to the start of the assignment.
Holiday RTO cannot be accommodated.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide med-surg level care for adult patients (18+)
• Float to other units as needed, which may include:
  • Surgical Pediatrics
  • Transitional Care Units
• Operate and manage unit equipment:
  • Meditech EMR
  • Pyxis
  • Wound vac systems
  • Chest tubes
• Maintain safe, accurate, and compassionate nursing practices
• Follow all clinical protocols, safety guidelines, and documentation standards

Requirements

Experience

• Minimum 2+ years of Med-Surg or higher-acuity nursing experience

Licensure

• Active Hawaii RN License required before assignment begins
• Must apply upon acceptance if not currently licensed in Hawaii

Certifications

• BLS – Required
• ACLS – Preferred

Additional Notes

• Must arrive the Thursday prior to assignment for mandatory Employee Health clearance on Friday
• Holiday coverage required
• Bilingual not required

• Dress Code: Professional nursing attire; no specific scrub color; closed-toe shoes required
• Orientation: Department-specific training provided during the first week
