Description
🏥 Unit Overview
- Beds/Rooms:
- 10 private LDRP rooms
- 2 antepartum rooms
- 1 OR suite
- 2 on-call rooms for physicians
- Birth Volume: ~50/month (~600/year)
📋 Certifications Required
- Required: BLS, ACLS, NRP
- Preferred: FHM
👩⚕️ Staffing & Ratios
- Couplet Care: 1:3
- Laboring Patients: 1:1
- Support Staff:
- 1 Charge RN
- 1 Lactation Counselor
- 1 Unit Secretary/Notary
- 1 Maternity Educator
- Nurse Aides / OB Techs (Day & Night based on census)
🕒 Schedule & Requirements
- Shift: 12 hours (6:00 – 6:00)
- Weekend: Every 3rd weekend (may increase based on need)
- Holidays: 1 major + 1 minor
🏥 Systems & Equipment
- Fetal Monitoring: OBIX
- EMR: MediTech
- Telemetry: GE (centrally monitored)
- Vents: Not available
👨⚕️ Coverage & Support
- OB/Neonatologist: On-call (not in-house)
- Anesthesia: On-call (20-min response time)
- Respiratory Therapy: 24/7
- Pharmacy: On-call after 9 PM (moving to 24/7 soon)
- IV Team: Not available → strong IV skills required
🩺 Clinical Experience Required
- C-section experience (circulating required)
- NICU Floating: Only for feeders & growers
📚 Patient Population & Cases
- 32+ weeks (earlier gestation transferred out)
- No VBAC
- Common cases include:
- Magnesium sulfate
- Insulin-dependent patients
