SLSS - Anesthesiology

● Patient Types:
o Adults: Ortho, Total Joints, Total Shoulder, Shoulder Scopes, ACL, Knee Scopes, Urology, General, Podiatry. Neuro, Ultrasound Management for nerve blocks, MAC anesthesia, General Anesthesia
● Patient Ratios:
o varies
● Required Certifications:
o BLS
● Skills required:
o Experience with the above patient types, Blocks, calibrate machines, troubleshoot anesthesia machines, art lines, central lines
● Support on the Unit:
o Anesthesia Techs
o RNs
o Charge Nurse
o Anesthesiologist
o Surgeon
o Unit Manager
● Technology/Equipment:
o EMR: EPIC
o Propofol Pumps
o GlideScopes
o Ultrasound machine for blocks
● Floating: If yes, where?
o To GI or IR to support Anesthesiologist/MAC cases
● Orientation (how many shifts):
o 2-3 days
● Scheduling:
o Weekend rotation: Call only
o Call? Yes
▪ Weekend – every third, end of shift Friday to 0700 Monday morning
▪ Weekdays – 2-3 times a week: after shift to 0700 the next day
o Holiday Expectations: Call only – every other holiday
o Approval of time off: can approve up to 7 days
o Shift Times: Monday – Friday, 0830-1700
