UNIT: Cardiac Renal Unit/CRU/5500-7550
 

Requires passing of 2 tests: 12 Lead EKG and Basic Dysrhythmia.  

Minimum Experience REQUIRED: Two years of strong Tele/M/S, 1 travel assignment, trauma level II experience.

Required Certsl: Must have current active compact license. AHA BLS, AHA ACLS and NIHSS.

Charting Experience: Recent EPIC experience required (will be required to do a checkoff class)

Float Requirement: First to float within skillset. campus (8 miles apart) & potential to float to (KY – 11 miles). 2 HR notice given for cross campus float. Mid-shift float within same campus. Cross campus mid-shift float is unlikely but possible.

Patient Population:   High acuity – Tele/M/S, Cardiac heavy, (Afib with RVR, Afib, flutter, blocks), heart cath without interventions. CHF, COPD, sepsis, BH/CIWA, post ablations, dialysis.

Skillset: Tele/12-lead EKG interpretation (travelers are required to pass a tele test), Initiate/titrate drips (antiarrhythmics, Heparin, etc.). PIV insertion, chest tube/indwelling drain management, CBI, stables drips (heparin, lasix, protonix), antidysrhythmic (cardizem, tikosyn dosing, amio), nephrostomy tubes.

Unit Information: 32 beds.  Ratio: Days 1:4-5; NOCs 1:5-7; CN rarely takes patients on days, but takes an assignment on NOC shift.
Unit Strengths: Excellent retention and experience on unit.  Manager has been over the unit for 15+ years and has built a strong team!
