Skills required
past history of taking care of surgical patients, assessments, critical thinking and efficient time management are necessary. Comfort level/experience with tube feeding, NG tubes and giving blood product would be very helpful
Support on the Unit:
Charge nurse, no patient load - needs to be available to perform off-unit Peritoneal Dialysis

Must document pain level, before and after (1 hour for oral) giving pain medications - The pain score must also meet the pain score with nth medication order i.e. if a patient has a score of 8, the RN cannot give the Tylenol that is ordered for mild 1-3. The RN must call for an order if the patient wants Tylenol for the score of 8.
