Description
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive nursing care to cardiovascular step-down patients including LVAD, post-STEMI, valve replacement, and cardiothoracic surgical cases
Monitor and manage cardiac arrhythmias and perform ECG interpretation
Administer and titrate intravenous medications as required
Assist with procedures such as cardioversions with conscious sedation
Perform advanced nursing skills including chest tube removal, femoral arterial line removal, and external pacing
Conduct point-of-care testing including ACT and iSTAT
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including clinical managers, educators, and cardiac monitor technicians
Maintain accurate documentation and ensure patient confidentiality
Deliver patient-centered care aligned with ANA standards and Ohio Nurse Practice Act
Participate in continuous professional development and adapt to clinical changes
Requirements
Experience
Previous experience in Cardiovascular Stepdown Unit (CVSU) required
Experience with cardiothoracic post-surgical patients preferred
Ability to manage complex cardiac conditions and titratable drips
Strong communication and teamwork skills in a diverse healthcare environment
Licenses/Certifications
Active Ohio RN License or Compact License
BLS Certification (AHA)
ACLS Certification (AHA)
Education
Diploma in Nursing required
BSN preferred
