LVN – Behavioral Health | Mids | Texas

We are seeking experienced Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) for a Behavioral Health assignment in Texas. This role is ideal for nurses comfortable working in a structured environment with patients who have intellectual and developmental disabilities.

📅 Start & Contract

• Start: ASAP / rolling starts available
• 24-week contract (minimum)
• 40 hours per week
• Ability to start during the week (with required onboarding time)

⏰ Schedule

• Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM (Mids)
• 5x8 schedule
• Must be flexible (occasional extended shifts if needed)
• Rotating weekends (every 3rd weekend off)

🩺 Patient Population

• Behavioral health
• Intellectual & developmental disabilities
• Unit-based and infirmary care

📊 Patient Ratios

• Typically 9–10 patients
• Lower ratios for higher acuity patients
• Team-supported environment

📚 Orientation

• 6-week structured orientation:
  • Classroom education
  • Nursing skills training
  • Preceptorship
• Cross-training across multiple units

📋 Requirements

• Active Texas LVN/LPN License
• CPR Certification
• Minimum 2+ years preferred
• Minimum 1 year working with behavioral health patients
• Experience with high-volume med pass required
• Must be comfortable with:
  • G-tubes / enteral feedings
  • Foley catheters
  • Tracheostomies

• Strong medication administration experience
• Background in behavioral health, long-term care or skilled nursing preferred
• Clear communication skills (verbal & written)
• Able to work independently and within a team

🔄 Floating

• Floating required as needed
• Agency nurses are typically floated first
• Initial cross-training provided across units
