JOB DESCRIPTION
RN - ED

About Facility: 10628 Park Rd. Charlotte, NC 28210
o 337 licensed beds
o No Trauma Designation
o Not a Teaching Hospital
o Chest Pain Center
o Stroke Center
o Radius rule: Traveler's permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit
● Unit Information:
o Beds: 43
▪ 8 Clinical Decision beds – Behavioral Health (not locked)
▪ 4 additional on opposite side used for admins from FSED or holding patients
▪ Average Census: 145 patients on average per day
o Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years of ED exp
o Will you accept a first-time traveler? No
● Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
o General ED Population – Trauma stabilization to ship out, Respiratory illness, Stroke, Behavioral Health, Acute MI, Uncontrollable Diabetes, Minor trauma, etc.
o Ages served – Pediatric to Geriatric
o 25-30% Admission rate
● Patient Ratios:
o RN: 1:3-4, based on acuity
● Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:
o RN:
▪ BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI (required)
▪ TNCC (preferred)
● Skills required:
o RN: General ED Skillset to include but not limited to - Cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with critical care drips, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, conscious sedation
● Support within the Department:
o HCT/Unit Sec – 1:8-10
o Paramedic
o Charge nurse – free floating
o Patient Safety Attendants
o Pharmacist dedicated to ED – 7a to 11p
o Social Worker
o Scheduler
o RT 24/7
o ED Physicians + APP; Geriatric APP
o Hospitalist, 24/7
o Intensivist, 24/7
● Technology/Equipment:
o EMR: EPIC
o IV Pump: Alaris
o Med dispensing: Omnicell
o Monitors: Phillips
o Rover Communication; Panda Infant Warmer, LUCAS
● Floating:
o Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice – DECLINE if not agreeable
o Region 2 - Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, any Freestanding ED within Region, Central Division (CMC Main + CMC Mercy + Levine Children's Hospital)
o If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)
