Description
Position Title: Surgical Technician / Tissue Processing Technician
Location: Syracuse, NY
Total Travel Package: $2,530 / week
*Must reside over 50 miles away to qualify for the travel package*
· Taxable wages: $1200.00
· Weekly lodging allowance: $854.00
· Weekly meals / incidentals: $476.00
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Places equipment and supplies in operating room and arranges instruments, according to instructions
- Assists team members to place and position patient on table
- Scrubs arms and hands and dons gown and gloves
- Aids team to don gowns and gloves
- Maintains supply of fluids, such as plasma, saline, blood, and glucose for use during operation
- Hands instruments and supplies to surgeon, holds retractors, cuts sutures, and performs other tasks as directed by the surgeon during operation.
- Puts dressings on patient following surgery
- Counts sponges, needles, and instruments before and after operation
- Washes and sterilizes equipment, using germicides and sterilizers
- Cleans operating room
- Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years of recent experience within the last 4 years in operating room in an acute care facility of similar or same level as Upstate. Level 1 trauma center/or teaching hospital or in an equivalent size facility in the specialty area adult or peds. Scrub experience is required. Operating room experience should be in general surgery and specialty areas i.e. ortho neurosurgery trauma vascular ENT bariatric GU GYN.
Schedule:
Shifts will include a mix of 4 8-hour shifts and 4 12-hour shifts- 07-1530 11-1930 15-2330 07-1930 11-2330
