JOB DESCRIPTION
RN - ED
● About Facility:
o 6965 Fairview Rd., Charlotte, NC 28211
o 16 bed free standing emergency department
o No Trauma Designation, licensed under CMC Main
o Facility offers 24/7 on-site X-ray, CT, and Ultrasound services
o Limited STAT Outpatient imaging is also provided at this location, weekdays only, max of 6 patients/day
o Radius rule: Traveler's permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit
● Department Information:
o Average of 68 ED visits per day
o Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years ED experience
o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Prefer traveler experience but not required
● Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
o ED patients only – all ages; Common ED Diagnoses and Behavioral Health
o Approx. 10% admit rate
● Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:
o BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI – all required (if they are unable to get them all by start date, facility will assist with getting their certifications quickly after starting)
o NRP - preferred
● Ratios:
o RN: 1:4, typically
● Skills required:
o General ED Skillset to include but not limited to - Cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with critical care drips, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, conscious sedation
● Support within Department:
o Charge RN – without patient assignment
o Paramedic in house, 1p-1a
o RT, 24/7 in house
o Imaging – DX/CT and US
o Staffing:
▪ Days: Start with (4) RNs at 0700; (2) RNs come in at 1100, (1) RN comes in at1500
▪ Nights: (4) RNs report at 1900 for 12 hr shift
▪ Staffed with RNs, RT and Imaging – all clinicians will work as unit (Imaging and Respiratory Therapist are cross trained to assist in patient cares)
● Technology/Equipment:
o EMR: EPIC
o Alaris
o Omnicell
o Panda Warmer
● Floating: If yes, where?
o Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice – DECLINE if not agreeable
▪ Region 1 - Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH (peds only) -- could float to any of the facilities within region if the need arises
● Orientation (facility and unit):
o NEO
o 2 days departmental
● Scheduling:
o Weekend rotation: every other
o No call
o Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
o RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holiday weeks – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours
o Shifts: 7a-7p; 11a-11p; 3p-3a; 7p-7a
o Schedule cycle: 6 weeks
