About Facility:
Licensed Beds: 244
ED: 16 beds
ICU: ~20 beds
Progressive: ~40 beds
No Trauma designation
Facility offers X-Ray, CT, Ultrasound, MRI, Interventional Radiology, and Nuclear Medicine, with Radiology Nursing support
TJC Stroke accredited
Radius rule: Traveler's permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit
 

Department Information:
Inpatient Census is typically 100% capacity - 224
Department performs an average of 23 studies/day
more during the week, less on weekends


Minimum Years of Experience required? 1 year
Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes
 

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
Department will serve ED, Inpatient, Observation, and Outpatient patients
Department will care for a large population of medical device patients
Will perform cases with anesthesia as needed.
Department does not provide cardiac imaging
 

Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:
ARRT(R) or NMTCB, ARRT(MR) or ARMRIT
BLS
NC Licensure is not required
 

Skills required:
Examines requests and verifies orders on each patient. Questions orders to the Radiologist before performing exam or contacts ordering provider when there are discrepancies.
Properly identify (Using two patient identifiers) and assist patients while offering a brief explanation of the procedures. Prepares patients for the procedure with a full explanation and documents.
Interviews patients for a complete medical history. Reviews in-patients, ER, and outpatients EMR's to obtain pertinent clinical history.
Assumes responsibility for the exam from beginning of exam until completion of dictated results.
Prepares and administers IV contrast according to departmental protocols.
Evaluates technical quality of images and consults with a Radiologist if needed.
Performs basic patient care functions. Informs appropriate nursing personnel of any changes in the patient's condition. Initiates life support measures for patients when necessary.
Performs all invasive procedures in accordance with bloodborne pathogens, isolation, and infection control policies and procedures.
Practices principle of radiation safety for self, employees, patients and family members.
Maintains knowledge and skills required to work safely in an environment that can create significant exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious disease.
Adheres to the hospital fire and safety procedures.
Operates radiology computer system to include entering orders and charging procedures/supplies. Documents contrast administration in the MAR.
Assists other medical personnel, such as anesthesia, when performing exams or services in conjunction with a MRI scan.
Maintains knowledge of all MRI safety requirements for both staff and patients while in and around magnetic fields

Guest Services/Transport for Inpatient, Observation, ED patients
Tech assistant on overnight shifts
