Job Title: Medical Physicist
Facility: Northside Hospital – 725A Cancer Center
Duration: 13 Weeks
Location: 1000 Johnson Ferry Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30342
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
Hours: 40 hours per week (5×8-hour shifts)
Job Summary
Northside Hospital is seeking an experienced Medical Physicist to support radiation oncology services at the Cancer Center. The Medical Physicist will ensure the safe and effective delivery of radiation therapy by maintaining radiation equipment, performing quality assurance, and supporting clinical treatment planning.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Medical Physics within a clinical setting
- Master’s Degree in Medical Physics or a related field
- ABR (American Board of Radiology) Certified or ABR Eligible
- AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification required
Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide clinical support for radiation therapy treatments, including treatment planning and dose calculations.
- Perform quality assurance (QA) and calibration of radiation therapy equipment to ensure accurate radiation delivery.
- Collaborate with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and radiation therapists to develop and review patient treatment plans.
- Ensure compliance with radiation safety standards, regulatory requirements, and hospital policies.
- Conduct acceptance testing, commissioning, and routine performance checks for radiation therapy machines and related equipment.
- Monitor and evaluate radiation dose delivery and treatment accuracy.
- Provide technical guidance and training to radiation oncology staff when needed.
- Maintain documentation, QA records, and compliance reports related to radiation safety and equipment performance.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives within the radiation oncology department.
