Summit - Surg Room

MUST be comfortable performing Surgical Assist and Surgical Tech duties.

● About Facility:
o Oconomowoc, WI
o Level II Trauma Center
o Primary Stroke Center
o Beds: 91
● Unit Information:
o Suites: 10, only run 7 rooms at a time
▪ Census? 12-20 cases per day
o Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years for all specialties
o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes for all specialties
● Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
o Adults: Lots of Ortho/Neuro cases. Total joints. Craniotomies, laminectomies (level 1-2), fusions, robotic (Davinci XI), Gallbladder, colectomy, general surgery, bariatric, urology
o Peds: ENT, emergent cases (appy)
● Required License, National Certification, Certs:
o Surgical Assist: BLS, CSA
● Skills required:
o For All: experience with above patient types. Must have STRONG experience in ortho (total joints, fem/tibial rodding), Neuro (laminectomies, burr holes)
o Surgical Assistants - interchangeably as a CST. MUST be comfortable performing Surgical Assist and Surgical Tech duties.
● Support within the Department:
o Charge nurse: is not a part of cases but helps with lunch breaks
o Educator
o Phlebotomy/RN: draws blood
o Hospitalist 24/7
o Unit Secretary
o In house team of RN and ST 24/7 for Trauma Support
o Bedside tele monitoring by anesthesia
● Technology/Equipment:
o EMR: EPIC
o IV Pump: Alaris
o Med dispensing: Pyxis
o Unit specific equipment: DaVinci XI Robot
● Floating: If yes, where?
o No
● Orientation (facility and unit):
o Total of one week of orientation with preceptor. Will meet with educator during this time
● Scheduling:
o Weekend rotation: see below
o On call? Yes
▪ 4 weeknight call shifts per month (EOS – 0630 the following morning)
▪ 1 full weekend per month (EOS Friday – Monday 0630)
▪ 30-minute response time
▪ 1 Sleep Room available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Need to request key ahead of time from manager.
▪ Cover OB call after 1700 weekdays and weekends
o Holiday Expectations: call only, will be put in rotation
o Approval of RTO: to go through manager
o Shift times:

▪ 0630-1900
