Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant (NP/PA) – Locum Tenens

📍 Location: Oakland & Richmond, California
💼 Job Type: Locum Tenens | Full-Time | Hourly

Position Overview

Kaiser Permanente is seeking experienced Emergency Medicine NP/PA providers to support high-volume Emergency Departments in Oakland and Richmond. Providers will primarily manage lower-acuity patients in a fast-track setting while working alongside a collaborative clinical team.

Assignment Details

  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Duration: 13 weeks (with extension potential)
  • Openings: 2 FTEs
  • Setting: Emergency Department – Fast Track
  • Reason for Coverage: Increased patient volume & short staffing
  • Credentialing: ~60 days

Schedule

  • Shift: 4:00 PM – 2:00 AM
  • Schedule: 4x10-hour shifts per week
  • Days: Monday – Sunday (includes every other weekend)
  • Call: No call required

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Manage lower-acuity patients in Fast Track (6–8 bed unit)
  • See approximately 8–12 patients per day (up to 10–20 depending on volume)
  • Perform evaluations, diagnosis, treatment, and disposition
  • Collaborate with physicians, NP/PA colleagues, and nursing staff

Support & Environment

  • Team includes physicians, NP/PAs, RNs, and MAs
  • EMR: EPIC (Kaiser Permanente Health Connect)

Requirements

  • Active California NP or PA license (required at submission)
  • Board Certified
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS
    • ACLS
    • PALS (AHA)
    • CA Controlled Substance Course Certificate
  • Emergency Medicine experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Vaccination: Required (including booster)
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced ED environment
