Description

Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Tele

Location: Burlington, Vermont
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 26 weeks


Job Description

  • Float between Med/Surg, Telemetry, and MS units as needed
  • Every other weekend required, no call
  • Monday to Sunday schedule, no block schedules
  • Teaching hospital experience required
  • Epic experience within the past 2 years is required and non-negotiable
  • Reliable personal or rental vehicle strongly recommended (public transportation not accessible)
  • Vehicles should have all-season or snow tires from November to April

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Vermont
  • Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, including experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • PALS issued by American Heart Association
  • NIHSS certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Experience working in a teaching hospital environment
  • Experience with Epic EMR system

Certifications & Compliance

  • Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Education verification of highest degree
  • Annual verification of BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA only, no RQI with recommended renewal date accepted)
  • NURSYS verification within 30 days of start and updated annually
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required
  • Color blindness testing required
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • N95 Fit Test required prior to assignment and updated annually (acceptable mask types specified)
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tdap within 10 years or titer
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray if positive TB
    • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella
    • Hepatitis B series and titer or signed declination
    • 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • COVID vaccination or declination required
  • Pneumonia vaccination or declination required if assigned to NY facility

Additional Requirements

  • Complete all work history information including bed count, EMR, and facility type
  • Explanation required for any employment gaps over 90 days
  • Two professional references from assignments within the last 3 years
  • Skills checklist within 12 months
  • Work history verification for the last 2 years of clinical work
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation and training modules prior to start (including EPIC and Cornerstone modules)
  • Completion of various facility-specific forms and attestations (e.g., abuse registry consent, emergency contact, dress code review)
  • Compliance with COVID testing protocol on Day 1 of work
  • Passport-style photo for badge (plain light background, no logos or hats) required two weeks prior to start
  • Reliable transportation strongly recommended due to lack of public transit

Notes

  • No block schedules allowed
  • Bi-weekly orientations available on Mondays
  • Must complete all required documentation and certifications timely to avoid delays

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs with prior travel experience who are comfortable working in a teaching hospital environment and have recent Epic EMR proficiency.
