Key Requirements & Policies

Radius Rule & License:

50 miles from any CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity facility. Driver’s license required at submittal to verify distance.
Employment Restrictions: Cannot be current full-time, part-time, or PRN with CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity.
Orientation Exam: Open-book exam on skills required on Wednesdays; 90% pass rate or termination.
Fingernail Policy: No artificial nails in patient care areas; refusal to remove causes termination.
Scheduling/RTO: No guaranteed block scheduling (except weekends). Max 7 days RTO submitted upfront.
Call Requirement: 30-minute arrival required.

ICU Unit Details

Ratios: 1:2–3 for adults.
Patient Types: Trauma, cardiac, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker, stroke, vascular cases, renal/heart failure, respiratory distress.
Duties: Titrating drips (cardiac, insulin, sedation), ventilator management (nasal cannula to vent).
Support: Nurse aides available for 1:1s or bedside support; HCT 3 days/week.
Monitors: GE system, RNs must interpret/document strips.
Floating: To PCU or Med-Surg (ratios 1:4 or 1:5).
Holidays: Minimum 2 holidays per contract.
