Staff Nurse

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through diagnosis, treatment, and advocacy in the care of individuals and families. The RN ensures compliance with nursing practice standards and professional development according to the New York State Nurse Practice Act and relevant nursing codes of ethics and standards. The role promotes a caring and healing environment focused on patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients, serving as primary or accountable nurse as assigned.
• Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
• Administer medications safely with knowledge of pharmacology.
• Participate in resource utilization including staffing, time management, and supplies.
• Comply with nursing practice standards and regulatory requirements.
• Support Nursing Shared Governance Model through unit council participation and improvement initiatives.
• Engage in professional development and complete mandatory education.
• Integrate nursing research and evidence-based practice.
• Provide a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum of 6 months Med Surg nursing experience, with Med Surg experience within the last year.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Experience in management roles.
• Experience with Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR).
• Experience with Watchman device procedures.
• Experience with mitral clip procedures.
• Experience with heart catheterizations.
• Experience using TR band for hemostasis.
• Experience with groin management post-procedure.
• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Previous clinical nursing experience in acute care or ambulatory settings.
• Professional certification in a related nursing specialty.
• Relevant skills certifications such as PALS, TNCC as required by the assigned unit.

Additional Information

• Management experience from 0 to 3 years is considered a plus.
• Unit-specific requirements may apply and should be validated prior to submission.
