Nights 1845-0715; 3 12 Hour Shifts EOW, EOH
🔎 Role Overview: Critical Care Nurse
This position involves providing advanced nursing care to critically ill patients (from pediatric to geriatric). The nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care—especially in life-threatening situations—while following AACN (American Association of Critical-Care Nurses) standards.
There’s a strong preference for candidates with EPIC system experience, as the hospital is transitioning from Meditech to EPIC.
đź§ Key Responsibilities
1. Patient Assessment & Monitoring
- Perform continuous, detailed assessments of critically ill patients
- Conduct full health histories and physical exams
- Identify and prioritize urgent and life-threatening conditions
2. Care Planning & Implementation
- Develop and update individualized care plans
- Prioritize problems based on severity
- Include discharge planning and referrals
3. Critical Care Interventions
- Manage life-threatening complications
- Maintain:
- Airway and ventilation
- Hemodynamic stability (blood flow/pressure)
- Stable cardiac rhythm
- Recognize and respond to cardiac arrhythmias and emergencies
4. Technical & Emergency Skills
- Assist with:
- Temporary pacemaker insertion
- Emergency/ambulance transport
- Use critical care equipment and systems (including EPIC)
5. Professional Development
- Stay updated on:
- Clinical practices
- Scientific advancements
- Ethics and trends in critical care
- Maintain required licenses and certifications
- Complete mandatory training and competency assessments
