Description
Job Summary:
The Emergency Department RN is responsible for rapid patient assessment, triage, and implementation of appropriate clinical interventions. The role requires strong critical thinking skills, the ability to prioritize care effectively, and experience managing both life-threatening and routine emergency situations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform triage and prioritize patient care based on acuity levels
- Conduct comprehensive primary and secondary patient assessments
- Administer medications, treatments, and emergency interventions
- Monitor and evaluate patient response to treatment and adjust care plans accordingly
- Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and support staff
- Provide patient and family education regarding treatment plans and discharge instructions
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care
- Ensure adherence to infection control and patient safety protocols
- Support a team-oriented environment and assist with delegation when appropriate
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting
- At least 1 year of recent Emergency Department experience
- Active RN license
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Stroke Certification (AHA or RQI)
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to work in a high-pressure environment
Schedule:
- 3x12-hour shifts per week
- Rotating day, evening, night, weekend, and holiday schedule
- On-call requirements as needed
