The primary responsibility of the Ultrasound/Vascular Technologist is:
- Selects appropriate equipment for use in ultrasound setup, following exam specifications.
- Explains and performs the procedure with consideration to the level of understanding and age appropriateness for the patient.
- Able to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure — makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
- Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
- Selects a transducer and adjusts the equipment controls according to the body part to be examined, the depth of field and other specifications of the test.
- Understands and practices proper use of all equipment.
- Performs procedures in accordance with established standards and protocols.
- Document patient information appropriately.
- Adjust and maintain equipment
- A Bachelor of Science degree. - [HIGHLY][PREFERRED]
- Two years of Ultrasound/Vascular experience. - [REQUIRED]
- American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)- Currently registered- minimal certifications- RDMS abdomen (AB) and vascular (RVT). - [REQUIRED]
- Current Basic Cardiopulmonary Life Support (BCLS) Certification. - [REQUIRED][DOCUMENT]
