Requirements

Experience:

• Minimum 1 year of LTC RN experience required
• Previous travel experience required
• First-time travelers not accepted

Licensure:

• Active Alaska (AK) RN License required (must be in hand)
• Pending licenses not accepted

Certifications (Required):

• BLS (Basic Life Support)

Additional Certification:

• Alaska Food Worker Certification required
  • To be completed on-site during orientation
  • $10 one-time fee (paid by clinician)

Clinical Skills:

• Long-Term Care (LTC) experience required

Schedule & Contract Details

Shift Options:

• 4x12 variable shifts OR 3x12 variable shifts (traveler’s choice)
• Shifts will be either Days or Nights (no routine rotation)
  • Occasional rotation only for urgent staffing needs
  • Final schedule dependent on facility needs at start

Contract Duration:

• 13 or 26 weeks (traveler’s choice)

Patient Ratio:

• 1:20

Availability & Work Requirements

• On-Call: Not required
• Floating: Required within scope
• Block Scheduling: Not available

Weekend / Holiday Expectations:

• Must be willing to work at least 2 of the 3 major winter holidays:
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas
  • New Year
• Preference given to travelers willing to work all holidays

Additional Requirements

• Local Candidates: Not accepted (must live at least 50 miles from facility)
• RTO (Requested Time Off):
  • Maximum 2 weeks allowed for a 26-week contract
  • Must be submitted at time of application
  • Not considered after offer or contract signing
• Guaranteed Hours: 60 hours per 2 weeks
  • Facility may call off 1 (12-hour) shift per 2 weeks

Traveler Vehicle Information

• A vehicle will be provided for use during the assignment
  • Either facility-owned or rental car

Vehicle Usage Guidelines:

• Available up to 72 hours before contract start and up to 24 hours after contract end
• Only the traveler is authorized to operate the vehicle
• Must provide:
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Proof of insurance (must include rental coverage)

Restrictions:

• Use limited to within a 30-mile radius of the facility
• Off-road use is prohibited

Additional Notes:

• Vehicle must be returned clean with a full tank of gas
• Vehicle must be returned during any time off and reissued upon return
• Tire chains available at additional cost billed to traveler
