Travel Radiographer II (Surgery/Trauma) – Days
Facility: OU Health – OU Medical Center
Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Department: Adult Diagnostic X-Ray
Assignment Type: Travel
Duration: 13 Weeks, with potential for extension
Position Overview
OU Health is seeking an experienced Radiographer II to join its Adult Diagnostic X-Ray team, supporting surgical and trauma imaging services in a Level 1 Trauma Center. This role requires advanced radiographic expertise, strong clinical judgment, and the ability to work efficiently in high-acuity environments.
Under general supervision, the Radiographer II performs advanced diagnostic imaging procedures, including fluoroscopy and portable radiography, while also supporting surgical, trauma, and specialized imaging areas.
Schedule & Shift Details
- Shift: Days
- Schedule: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday
- Hours: 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM (12-hour shifts)
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours
- On-Call: 1 shift per month
Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced diagnostic radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures
- Operate both fixed and portable radiology equipment
- Assist physicians during surgical and trauma imaging procedures
- Perform specialized exams including:
- Gastrointestinal studies
- Intravenous pyelography
- Cystography
- Ensure high-quality imaging and accurate patient positioning
- Troubleshoot imaging equipment and resolve technical issues
- Maintain proper documentation, equipment logs, and inventory
- Rotate through various departments (surgery, trauma, pediatrics) as assigned
- Serve as a resource and mentor to junior staff and students
- Participate in cross-training opportunities (CT, MRI, Special Procedures)
- Deliver safe, patient-centered care across all age groups
Qualifications
Education
- Graduate of a JRCERT-accredited Radiologic Technology program
OR - Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited program (cardiovascular specialty)
- Associate’s degree or higher (preferred)
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist
- Level 1 trauma experience required
- Experience in surgical radiography strongly preferred
Certifications & Licensure
- ARRT (R) or equivalent credential (required)
- AHA BLS certification (required)

- Strong knowledge of diagnostic radiography techniques
- Proficiency in radiologic equipment operation and maintenance
- Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Excellent patient care and communication skills
- Ability to explain procedures clearly to patients and families
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer and documentation skills
