PCU Registered Nurse (RN)

Schedule: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM Department: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

About the Role

The PCU Registered Nurse serves as a clinical leader and delivers high‑quality patient care using the nursing process in alignment with the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code of Ethics, and professional standards. This role requires strong clinical judgment, effective delegation, and a commitment to patient‑centered care in a diverse environment. The RN supports departmental goals, contributes to continuous improvement, and upholds the organization’s mission and values.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Required: Registered Nurse diploma
  • Preferred: Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ASN/BSN)

Experience

  • Required: 2+ years of nursing experience

Licensure & Certifications

  • Required:
    • Active RN license in state of practice
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association
  • Preferred:
    • Specialty certification (e.g., PCCN, CCRN)

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal and team‑building skills
  • Strong organizational and time‑management abilities

Core Responsibilities

  • Deliver patient care using the full nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation).
  • Assess patient and family learning needs; provide education tailored to diverse populations.
  • Delegate and coordinate tasks among licensed and unlicensed team members.
  • Collaborate as a leader within the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Use data and clinical insights to support quality improvement and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrate behaviors that enhance patient satisfaction, team morale, and professional practice.
  • Adapt communication and care approaches to meet the needs of specific patient populations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
