Medical Laboratory Technologist  

Local or Travel position 
Location: IHS facility - Pine Ridge, SD 

Pay Rate: $45 per hour plus $1,246 weekly travel stipends (if applicable). 
Schedule: 40-45 hours per week, including holidays and weekends 

Contract Length: 8 weeks with the option to extend 

Benefits: $5.09 per hour for health and welfare 

Job Description: The Medical Laboratory Technologist provides diagnostic laboratory services in a fast-paced IHS facility, supporting both hospital and outpatient clinic operations. This role requires accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to regulatory standards while performing moderate to high complexity testing. 
Requirements: 

• Meet CLIA requirements for high-complexity testing personnel 
• MT or MLT active license.
• Active BLS certification
• Experience in phlebotomy and specimen collection 
• Relevant clinical laboratory experience 
• Ability to meet federal onboarding and security requirements 

Responsibilities: 

• Perform specimen collection, labeling, processing, and transport within required turnaround times.
• Ensure ≥95% timeliness and ≥98% accuracy in specimen handling and documentation.
• Conduct moderate and high complexity laboratory testing with precision. 
• Accurately enter results into the electronic health record system. 
• Maintain quality control procedures and participate in proficiency testing. 
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment. 
• Provide diagnostic testing services for hospital and outpatient clinics. 
• Educate patients on specimen collection procedures when needed. 
• Follow all laboratory safety, infection control, and regulatory guidelines. 
• Maintain a high level of attention to detail to ensure reliable and accurate results.
