🩺 Medical Assistant (MA) – Days | Arizona Corrections
Start Dates: 4/13, 4/27, 5/11
Orientation: Offered every 2 weeks
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
We are seeking experienced Medical Assistants (MAs) to support healthcare services within a corrections setting in Arizona. This role involves providing patient care within the MA scope of practice under the supervision of medical and nursing staff, ensuring quality care and accurate documentation.
Schedule & Work Details
- Shift: Days
- Hours: 36 hours/week
- Schedule: 3 x 12-hour shifts
- On-Call: None required
- Overtime: Available based on critical need (must be manager-approved)
- Floating: Required across 6 locations as needed (all within 5 minutes of each other; 8 clinic locations total)
- Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Must be flexible; 5 holidays required within a 12-month period
- RTO: Accepted (within reason)
- Extensions: Possible
Responsibilities
- Perform duties within MA scope of practice to support patient care
- Prepare patients for exams and treatments
- Obtain patient histories, vital signs, and document chief complaints
- Assist with procedures, tests, and examinations
- Administer injections, immunizations, and TB skin tests per protocol
- Perform venipuncture and lab testing
- Maintain exam rooms and ensure adequate supplies
- Document in electronic health records (EHR)
- Transcribe provider orders and schedule follow-up appointments
- Complete administrative tasks (filing, scanning, scheduling, etc.)
- Utilize Microsoft Office for documentation and communication
Requirements
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant
- At least 1 year of recent experience in corrections
- Education:
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of an accredited MA training program (per Arizona Revised Statutes A.R.S. 32-1456 (D) or R4-16-401 (B))
- Certifications:
- Current First Aid Certification
- Current N95 Fit Test
Pay Package
- Hourly Rate: $18.00
- Weekly Hours: 36
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $648.00
- Overtime Rate: $27.00/hr (if approved)
- Per Diem: None
