▪ No Trauma Designation
▪ Not a Teaching Hospital
▪ Chest Pain Center? ECCC level 3
▪ Remote Stroke Center
● Unit Information:
o Beds: 22 plus surge beds
▪ Census? 85 patients per day on average
o Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years as an ED RN
o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes
● Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
o Common ED Diagnoses to include but not limited to: Chest Pain, Strokes, Diabetes, Abdominal Pain, MVCs, HTN, Mental Health
● Patient Ratios:
o RN: 1:3-4 (depends on assigned zone)
o LPN: 1:4
o CNA: 2 per shift
● Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:
o Active RN License (GA)
o BLS (Basic Life Support) required
o BCR (Basic Cardiac Rythm) required
o ACLS
o PALS
o TNCC - preferred, not required
o National certification - Emergency nursing - preferred but not required
● Skills required:
o Drip management: Heparin, Insulin, Cardene, Dopamine, Epinephrine, Fentanyl, Propofol, Levophed
o Receptionist/HUC: Unit secretary on unit
o Charge nurse – may or may not have patients
o Phlebotomy - Nurse draw
o IV/VAT Team: PICC coverage
o RT, 24/7
o Hospitalist, 24/7
o Intensivist, 24/7
o Telemetry monitoring/tech? Central Telemetry in ER – nurses read strips
● Technology/Equipment:
o EMR: EPIC
o IV Pump: Alaris
o Med dispensing: Omnicell
o Monitors: Phillips
o Unit specific equipment:
▪ VS3 vital sign monitors, Nova Glucose Stat Strips Cardiac Telemetry monitoring
▪ Portable vital signs monitors
▪ Bladder scanners, IV pump, portable oxygen system
▪ Glucommander
▪ Suction machine
▪ Level One Rapid Infuser, Bearhugger
▪ LUCAS
● Floating: If yes, where?
o Within ER
o Possibility of floating to the Navicent ER in Macon (about 45 minutes away)
● Orientation (facility and unit):
o 1 day orientation with work on educational modules
o 2 days departmental
● Scheduling:
o Weekend rotation: 5-6 weekend shifts out of 12 (on a 6-week schedule)
o No call
o Holiday Expectations: work one shift of each major holiday (Thanksgiving Day or day after 12/24 or 12/25 12/31 or 1/1
o RTO Requests: Manager approval required
o Shift times: 12-hour shifts
▪ 7A-7P or 7P-7A
o Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
