Description
X-Ray Technician (Diagnostic Imaging)
Location: Providence/Pawtucket, RI
Contract Duration: 9 Weeks
Shift: FLEX Schedule (Days, Evenings, or Nights) | 40 Hours Weekly
Job Summary
Seeking a highly adaptable X-Ray Technician to support their Diagnostic Imaging department. This role is unique due to its Flex Schedule, requiring a technician who can seamlessly transition between day, evening, and night shifts to meet unit needs. You will be responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic radiographs, maintaining sterile work areas, and providing essential documentation for radiologic evaluations.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnostic Imaging: Perform various radiographic exams (Chest, Extremity, Trauma, etc.) ensuring proper patient positioning and technical factor selection.
- Patient Care: Assist in the safe transport and positioning of patients within the radiographic suite; provide clear instructions to patients to ensure optimal image quality.
- Documentation: Prepare and produce accurate evaluation documentation for all diagnostic procedures.
- Suite Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked radiographic room; ensure all imaging equipment is functioning within safety parameters.
- Clinical Versatility: Operate diverse imaging equipment (C-arms, portable units, and fixed digital suites) across different shifts and hospital departments.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: High School graduate and completion of an AMA-approved X-ray training school.
- Certification: Current registry with the ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) in Radiography.
- Licensure: Must hold and maintain an active Rhode Island (RI) State Radiographer License.
- Skills: Proficiency in the English language and the ability to work independently across varied shifts (FLEX).
- Experience: While no specific years are listed, "Critical Order" status suggests a need for a tech who is competent to work solo during night or evening hours.
Unit & Facility Details
- Department: Diagnostic Imaging - Pawtucket (31114-60095).
- Location: Providence, RI 02905.
- On-Call: No on-call requirement listed.
- Urgency: Critical Order (Level 2) – Priority for placement.
Financial & Logistics Notes
- FLEX Nature: Candidates must be comfortable with "FLEX" shifts, which may involve rotating between days, evenings, and nights throughout the 9-week contract.
- ASAP Start: Not required, but the start date is set for mid-April.
- Duration: This is a shorter 9-week contract compared to the standard 13-week assignment.
Clinical Spotlight: The Flex Radiographer
In a Flex role, your technical "eye" must be consistent across all environments. Whether you are performing a routine outpatient chest X-ray at 10:00 AM or a high-stakes portable trauma film in the ER at 3:00 AM, your ability to manipulate the X-ray tube and collimator to achieve the perfect diagnostic view is paramount.
Your role in the diagnostic chain is essential; you are the one capturing the data that allows the radiologist to detect everything from a subtle hairline fracture to a critical pulmonary finding.
Providence is a historic city with a vibrant food and arts scene (WaterFire is a local favorite)
