Contract Duration: 13 Weeks (04/27/2026 – 07/26/2026)

Job Summary
Kent Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Interventional Radiology (IR) RN to join their procedural team. This role requires a nurse who is proficient in all three phases of IR care: preparing patients for complex imaging-guided procedures, providing moderate sedation intra-operatively, and managing immediate post-procedural recovery. You will be a key player in a fast-paced environment that handles everything from vascular access and biopsies to life-saving embolizations.
Key Responsibilities
- Procedural Sedation: Administer and monitor moderate (conscious) sedation; maintain airway patency and hemodynamic stability during high-acuity interventions.
- Intra-Procedural Support: Scrub-in and assist physicians with sterile tray setups and wire/catheter exchanges. (Vascular and scrubbing experience is highly preferred).
- Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive pre-procedure assessments (lab review, allergy screening) and post-procedure site management (sheath removal, hematoma monitoring).
- Vascular Access Management: Expertly manage PICC lines, ports, and arterial access sites, including the use of closure devices.
- Emergency Response: Participate in the On-Call rotation for nights, weekends, and holidays to support emergent IR cases (e.g., GI bleeds or stroke interventions).
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of Interventional Radiology experience (Pre, Intra, and Post-op).
- Skills: Must have documented experience in Moderate Sedation. Vascular experience and scrubbing proficiency are strongly preferred.
- Licensure: Active Rhode Island (RI) RN License.
- Certifications: AHA BLS and ACLS (Required).
- Flexibility: Ability to rotate day-shift start times and participate in mandatory on-call duties.
Unit & Facility Details
- Department: Interventional Radiology (31170-60095).
- Operating Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM.
- Location: Warwick, RI 02886.
- Urgency: Critical Order (Level 2) – High priority for interview and placement.
Financial & Logistics Notes
- Flex Schedule: Your 8-hour shift start time will vary daily between 7:30 AM and 8:30 AM based on the procedural schedule.
- On-Call: Rotating call is a mandatory requirement for this position; ensure your agency clarifies the call-back rate and response time requirements.
Clinical Spotlight: The IR Specialist
In the IR suite, you are the patient’s primary advocate while they are under sedation. Your role is a unique hybrid of ICU-level monitoring and OR-level sterile technique. Whether you are assisting in a Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE) or a complex Thrombectomy, your ability to anticipate the physician's next move while keeping a sharp eye on the patient's end-tidal $CO_2$ and vitals is what ensures a safe outcome.
Warwick is perfectly situated just south of Providence and close to the beautiful Rhode Island coastline.
