Description
CVOR Tech – Open Heart Surgery (Day Shift)
📍 Location: Peoria, IL
Shift: 4x10 hrs (6:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
- Call required (nights, weekends & holidays)
Overview:
Join a high-acuity CVOR team at a Level 1 trauma center specializing in complex cardiothoracic and vascular procedures. Work in 2–3 operating rooms daily with exposure to advanced open heart and trauma cases.
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of primary scrub experience in open heart cases – required
- Completion of a Surgical Technologist program – required
- BLS certification – required
- Experience with complex cardiac procedures – required
Common Cases:
- CABG, valve repairs/replacements (AVR, MVR, TVR)
- Aortic dissections, Bentall procedures
- ECMO, VAD implants, TAVR (support)
- Carotid endarterectomy, vascular bypass, trauma cases
- Thoracic procedures (VATS, thoracotomy), tracheostomy
- Exposure to congenital pediatric cases (preferred, not required)
Unit Highlights:
- 2–3 CVOR suites running daily
- 1–3 cases per day (high complexity)
- Epic EMR
- Strong team support with dedicated charge nurse
- Surgical scrubs provided
Call & Schedule Details:
- Call required: ~2 nights/week & 1–2 weekends/month
- Weekend call: Friday 5 PM – Monday 6:30 AM
- Holiday call as needed
- Floating within surgical services if low census
