Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse – Progressive Care (PCU/Stepdown) – Concord, NH

Contract Duration: 8 Weeks (05/04/2026 – 06/28/2026)

Shift: 12-Hour Nights (36 Hours Guaranteed Weekly)

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Progressive Care RN for a high-acuity stepdown unit (3 East). This role is designed for a nurse comfortable managing patients who require more intensive monitoring than a standard Med-Surg floor but do not yet require full ICU intervention. You will be expected to float within the Concord Hospital system as needed, including sister campuses in Laconia or Franklin.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hemodynamic Monitoring: Manage patients requiring continuous cardiac and pulse oximetry monitoring; titrate non-titratable cardiac drips and manage stable arterial lines.
  • Complex Patient Population: Provide care for post-surgical, cardiac, and pulmonary patients transitioning out of the ICU.
  • Clinical Assessment: Perform frequent, detailed neuro and respiratory assessments; respond to subtle changes in patient status to prevent clinical decompensation.
  • Rapid Response: Act as a core member of the unit-based rapid response team, utilizing ACLS protocols for stabilization.
  • System Floating: Flexibility is required to float to Concord Hospital-Laconia or Concord Hospital-Franklin based on system census.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 2+ years of PCU/Stepdown experience. Documented prior travel experience is required on your resume.
  • Licensure: Active New Hampshire (NH) or Compact RN License (Required at time of submission).
  • Certifications: AHA BLS and ACLS required.
  • Technical Skills: Cerner EMR experience is preferred but not required.
  • Submission Documents: Up-to-date resume, Skills Checklist, 2 recent Charge/Manager references, and a NURSYS report for all active licenses.

Unit & Facility Details

  • Location: Concord, NH 03301.
  • Contract Type: 8-week short-term coverage.
  • Local Policy: Candidates living within 50 miles will be accepted at a specific local rate.
  • Start Date: Firm start on May 4th or May 11th.

Financial & Logistics Notes

  • Overtime: Weekly OT after 40 hours (based on differential).
  • Time Off (RTO): All RTO must be included at the time of submission. No RTO will be approved after the initial submittal.

Clinical Spotlight: The PCU Transition Specialist

In the Progressive Care Unit, your clinical "intuition" is your most valuable asset. Because 3 East serves as the bridge between the ICU and General Medicine, you are often managing patients who are clinically fragile. Your ability to distinguish between a routine post-op recovery and the early signs of sepsis or a cardiac event is what defines excellence on this unit.

Concord is the state capital and serves as the gateway to the White Mountains and New Hampshire’s Lakes Region
