Description
Pharmacist – Acute Care / Inpatient
Location: California
Contract: 13 Weeks
Shift: 10-Hour Shifts | Nights
Schedule: Fri- Sat- Sun
Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend
On-Call: None
Job Summary:
Seeking an experienced Hospital Pharmacist for an acute care assignment in California. This role will support pharmacy operations across both campuses and provide clinical coverage for Inpatient, ER, ICU, Med-Surg, Telemetry, PACU, OR, Mother/Baby, and NICU. Ideal candidates will have strong inpatient clinical experience, antimicrobial stewardship knowledge, and sterile compounding skills.
Responsibilities:
• Support daily inpatient pharmacy operations across multiple acute care units
• Perform antibiotic stewardship functions including vancomycin and aminoglycoside dosing/monitoring
• Monitor insulin and other high-risk medications
• Provide drug information and clinical recommendations to providers and staff
• Assist with sterile compounding, medication verification, and safe dispensing
• Maintain compliance with regulatory and pharmacy operational standards
• Provide emergency pharmacy support when needed
Requirements:
• Active California Pharmacist License
• 3+ years of recent hospital pharmacist experience
• Strong acute care / inpatient pharmacy background
• Experience with antimicrobial stewardship and clinical dosing
• Sterile compounding experience required
• Experience with Cerner or similar CPOE systems
• Experience with Omnicell or similar automated dispensing systems
• Familiarity with medidose unit packaging, kit check, and control check
Preferred:
• Residency training
• Board certification such as BCPS, BCIDP, BCCCP, or BCSCP
• ASHP micro-certifications, SIDP, or other ID certification
• IV Compounding Certification
• IT or pharmacy systems experience
Additional Details:
• Pharmacy Manager/Supervisor onsite
• Pharmacy Tech support available
• Pharmacist to Tech ratio: 1:2
• No self-scheduling
• Department-specific orientation provided
Dress Code:
Business casual or clean scrubs required. No open-toed shoes/Crocs. Visible tattoos and certain piercings must be covered per facility policy.
