Description

We are seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) for a high-volume unit at Midland Memorial Hospital. This role requires a well-rounded L&D nurse capable of managing labor, circulating C-sections, and newborn transition care in a fast-paced environment.

 

Job Details

  • Start Date: April 27, 2026 (flexible within 3–5 weeks)
  • Duration: 16 weeks (13 weeks considered)
  • Shift: Days – 3x12s (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
  • Block Scheduling: Available
  • Positions: 2
  • Patient Ratio: 1:2

🩺 Core Responsibilities

  • Manage patients through triage, antepartum, and active labor
  • Circulate C-sections and assist with high-risk deliveries
  • Provide newborn transition care (no postpartum assignment)
  • Perform fetal monitoring and interpret heart rate patterns
  • Administer medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, insulin drips
  • Support vaginal deliveries, hemorrhage management, and emergency interventions

👶 Neonatal & Delivery Skills

  • APGAR scoring & newborn assessment
  • Thermoregulation & radiant warmer use
  • Infant identification & safety protocols
  • “Baby catcher” experience preferred

🧠 Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of L&D RN experience
  • Previous Charge Nurse experience – REQUIRED
  • Must be comfortable with high-risk antepartum & delivery cases
  • Experience in facilities with 200–300 births/month preferred

✅ Required Certifications

  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NRP
  • NIHSS

Preferred:

  • AWHONN Advanced / Intermediate
  • Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM)

🛠️ Skills & Procedures

  • IV therapy, blood administration, infusion pumps
  • Epidural & general anesthesia support
  • NSTs, sterile exams, triage assessments
  • Internal/External fetal monitoring, IUPC

🔄 Floating & Unit Info

  • May float to Antepartum
  • Unit includes LDRP & high-risk antepartum cases
Charting System: Cerner (preferred) Unit Volume: ~200–300 births/month Beds: 10 RN will rotate through triage, antepartum, labor, circulate, and transition No postpartum assignments
