Description
Job Title: Inpatient Pharmacist
Location: Hobbs, NM
Contract Duration: 26 Weeks
Shift: Day Shift (4x10s, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Schedule: 7 Days On / 7 Days Off (Wednesday – Tuesday Rotation)
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Inpatient Pharmacist to join the acute care team at Providence Covenant Health Hobbs Hospital. This role involves providing clinical pharmacy services, medication management, and patient care support across a diverse patient population.
The position offers a 7-on/7-off schedule, making it ideal for candidates seeking work-life balance with extended time off.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, verify, and dispense medications in an inpatient hospital setting
- Perform clinical dosing and pharmacokinetic monitoring
- Prepare and compound medications using sterile technique
- Manage:
- IV medication preparation
- Anticoagulation therapy and warfarin dosing
- Renal and cardiac dosing adjustments
- Monitor patient medication therapy for:
- Safety
- Effectiveness
- Drug interactions
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams
- Utilize Epic EMR and Pyxis medication systems
- Provide patient counseling and education when appropriate
Work Environment
- Acute Care Hospital (approx. 36–61 beds)
- Diverse patient population:
- Neonates to geriatrics
- Inpatient pharmacy setting with collaborative clinical support
Required Qualifications
- Active Pharmacist License (RPh)
- Minimum 1 year of acute care/inpatient pharmacy experience
- Strong experience in:
- Clinical dosing and medication monitoring
- IV compounding and sterile preparation
- Familiarity with Epic EMR (required)
Required Certifications
- RPh License
- IV Certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with:
- Anticoagulation and pharmacokinetic dosing
- Pediatric and renal dosing
- Pyxis medication dispensing systems
- Prior community hospital experience
Schedule & Requirements
- Schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off (Wednesday – Tuesday)
- Shift: 10-hour days (7:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-Call: Required during 7-day work rotation (after hours)
- Floating: May be required within system if needed
