JOB DESCRIPTION
About Facility:
o Licensed for 457 beds
o Level 3 Trauma
o Stroke center of Excellence
o Bariatric center of Excellence
o Chest Pain Center
o Radius rule: Traveler's permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit
● Unit Information:
o Beds: 13 labor beds, 5 triage rooms
▪ Average census of 9-10 patients daily
o Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years LDRP
o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes
● Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
o High Risk Antepartum, Labor, Immediate Postpartum
● Patient Ratios:
o RN: Laboring: 1:1-2
● Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:
o RN: BLS, ACLS, NRP, EFM
● Skills required:
o labor management, circulate cesarean sections, pre-op, PACU, triage, resuscitation of newborns, Pitocin management, epidural management
● Support within the Department:
o Secretary M-F 8-5
o Charge nurse, 24/7
o Phlebotomy - In hospital
o IV/VAT Team - In hospital
o RT 24/7
o Hospitalist 24/7
o Intensivist 24/7
o OB Physicians
o Anesthesia/CRNA team
o Telemetry monitoring – bedside and nurses station
● Technology/Equipment:
o EMR: EPIC
o IV Pump: Alaris
o Med dispensing: Omnicell
o Monitors: Client
o Unit specific equipment: Monica Novii, Neptune
● Floating:
o Within region and scope of practice
o Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice – DECLINE if not agreeable
▪ Region 1 - Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH (peds only) -- could float to any of the facilities within region if the need arises
▪ If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)
● Orientation (facility and unit):
o NEO
o 2 days departmental
● Scheduling:
o Weekend rotation: every other
o No call required for travelers
o Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
o RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours
o Shift times: 7a-7p, 7p-7a
o Schedule cycle: every 4 weeks
