JOB DESCRIPTION
RN - Rehab

● About Facility:
o 3351 North Side Dr. Macon, GA 21210
o 5-6 miles from the main hospital
o Beds: 58
● Unit Information:
o Beds: 33 beds
▪ Census? 25-33
o Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years of Inpatient Rehab or MedSurg experience; need to at least have knowledge of inpatient rehab. Will accept RN or LPN for RN posting
o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes
● Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
o Med Surg, Ortho, Trauma- referral of acute patients from hospitals, LTAC, LTC, home. Most nurses who will adapt to Unit 1 are nurses who have worked in a med-surg, ortho, post op units and other rehabilitation facilities
o Post op ortho (amputations, external fixators, joint replacements), post-CABG, traumas (MVAs, multiple traumas, GSW, falls), general debilitation, wounds with wound vac therapy, long term IV antibiotics. Will seldomly see patients need hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis
● Patient Ratios:
o RN/LPN: 1:5-7
o CNA: 1-3 CNAs per shift
● Required License, National Certification, Certs:
o Active RN License (GA)
o BLS, NIHSS
● Skills required:
o Experience with above patient types, wound care, dressing changes, wound vacs, drains, peripheral IV starts/maintenance, ostomy care, IV antibiotics,
o No drips
● Support Available:
o CNA – can assist with VS, Glucose Checks, baths, feeding, ambulating patients, assisting turning patients, hourly rounding, transporting patients as needed (Hospital has designated Transport Team)
o Receptionist/HUC? Unit secretary on unit
o Charge RN
o Phlebotomy and Nurse draw
o RT 24/7
o Hospitalist during the day, on call at night
● Technology/Equipment:
o EMR: EPIC
o IV Pump: Alaris
o Med dispensing: Pyxis
o Monitors: Phillips
o Unit specific equipment:
▪ VS3 vital sign monitors, Nova Glucose Stat Strips
▪ Portable vital signs monitors (Dynamapp)
▪ Bladder scanners, IV pump, portable oxygen system
▪ Suction machine
● Floating: If yes, where?
o Between Unit 1 and Unit 2
● Orientation (facility and unit):
o 1 day orientation with work on educational modules
o 2 days departmental
● Scheduling:
o Weekend rotation: 5-6 weekend shifts out of 12 (on a 6-week schedule)
o On call? No
o Holiday Expectations: work one shift of each major holiday (Thanksgiving Day or day after + 12/24 or 12/25 + 12/31 or 1/1)
o Approval of RTO: to go through manager
o Shift times: 0700-1900, 1900-0700
o Schedule cycle: 6-week schedule
● Other notes:
o Scrub Color: RN- Navy; LPN- Ceil Blue
o Parking: Free parking lot
o Unit Culture: busy but work as team
