Job Description: Physical Therapist – Acute/Inpatient (Contract)

Job Type: Contract
Position Urgency: Normal
Contract Length: 26 weeks
Shift: Variable (see schedule options below)
Specialty: Rehabilitation Therapy
Sub-Specialty: Physical Therapist
Setting: Acute Inpatient, Acute Rehab, and Secondary ICF/SNF Coverage
Experience Required: Minimum 1 year
License Requirement: Active state license required by start date
Certifications: BLS/BCLS
EMR: EPIC

Position Summary

A skilled Physical Therapist (PT) is needed for a contract assignment providing primary coverage in acute inpatient rehabilitation, with secondary responsibilities in ICF/SNF rehab. The PT will be responsible for evaluating, treating, and re-evaluating patients to support functional recovery, mobility, and overall rehabilitation outcomes.

Candidates must be willing to work variable shifts, including weekends and holidays, based on facility operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive evaluations and re-evaluations for assigned patients.
  • Develop and implement individualized therapeutic physical therapy treatment plans as prescribed by the attending physician or consulting specialist.
  • Provide ongoing physical therapy interventions, reassessments, and documentation in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support patient-centered care.
  • Deliver consulting physical therapy services when needed.
  • Maintain accurate EMR documentation using EPIC.
  • Work assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays as required.

Qualifications

  • Active and unrestricted state PT license (must be obtained prior to assignment start).
  • Minimum 6 months of experience in at least one adult-care setting:
    • Acute care
    • Rehabilitation hospital
    • Skilled nursing facility
  • Minimum of 1 year total PT experience preferred.
  • Current BLS/BCLS certification.
  • Strong ability to work in fast-paced inpatient environments.
  • Excellent communication and clinical assessment skills.

Schedule Information

Variable schedule options may include:

  • Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
  • Tuesday–Saturday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
  • Sunday–Thursday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM

Weekend and holiday availability required.

Additional Requirements

  • Candidates may need to arrive prior to the assignment start date to complete pre-employment processes.
  • Must be comfortable working across multiple inpatient and rehab unit types.
