Description
Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health
Location: Englewood, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night shift (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Weekly Hours: 36 hours (includes weekend hours)
Call Requirements: On-call/text when shifts open or staff call off
Unit: Behavioral Health (4 units, 96 beds total)
Patient Population: Adolescents (13-17 years), Adults (18+)
Patient Ratios:
- 1:12 on Adolescent, Adult Mental Wellness, and Adult Acute units
- 1:10 on Adult Dual Diagnosis/Substance Use Disorder unit
Job Description
- Provide nursing care in an acute stabilization behavioral health hospital
- Float to all units as needed
- Use de-escalation skills regularly
- Manage patients with behavioral health, medical, or dual diagnosis needs
- Able to perform CIWA (Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment) and COWS (Clinical Opiate Withdrawal Scale) assessments
- Average patient length of stay: 7-10 days
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado
- Minimum 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with behavioral health, medical, or dual diagnosis patients
- Familiarity with CIWA and COWS assessments
Additional Information
- Electronic Health Record system used: HCS
- Dress code: Navy scrubs
- Patient care involves adolescents and adults in an acute behavioral health setting
- Call/text coverage required for shift openings or absences
