Registered Nurse – Operating Room (Cardiovascular Specialty)
Location: New Orleans, LA
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
Start Date: May 4, 2026
Shift: Day Shift – 3x12 hours (8:30 AM – 9:00 PM)

Job Overview

• Provide specialized nursing care in the Operating Room with a focus on cardiovascular procedures
• Work in a high-acuity surgical environment handling complex cases
• Support a wide range of surgical specialties including cardiovascular, robotics, general, and orthopedic procedures
• Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes

Key Responsibilities

• Circulate in the Operating Room during surgical procedures
• Assist in cardiovascular surgeries and related interventions
• Monitor patients and maintain sterile field throughout procedures
• Support conscious sedation and intraoperative patient care
• Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical staff
• Ensure accurate documentation and adherence to safety protocols

Schedule & Work Details

• Day shift: 3x12-hour shifts per week
• Call required, including cardiovascular call
• Floating required based on department needs
• Weekend coverage as per unit requirements
• Orientation: 36 hours provided
• Up to 2 requests for time off allowed

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of Operating Room RN experience (cardiovascular required)
• Strong experience in cardiovascular surgeries (mandatory)
• Experience in robotics, general, and orthopedic cases
• Previous travel experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Active RN license
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in trauma-level facilities (Level I or II preferred)
• Skills in telemetry and conscious sedation
