Contract Duration: 13 Weeks (05/01/2026 – 08/01/2026)
Shift: 12-Hour Mid-Shift (11:00 – 23:30)
Position Status: Open (Requisition: AN-0275)
Job Summary
Seeking a versatile LDRP RN for their Family Birth Suites. This is a 24-bed unit that follows the Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) model, meaning you will care for the mother and baby throughout the entire birthing journey in one room. As a Level 2 Maternal and Level 1 Nursery facility, you will manage both routine and moderately high-risk deliveries. The hospital places a high value on culture; travelers are welcomed as peers and are expected to integrate fully as core members of the nursing team.
Key Responsibilities
- Comprehensive Care: Manage patients through all phases of childbirth: active labor, delivery, immediate postpartum recovery, and newborn care.
- Maternal-Fetal Monitoring: Utilize Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) to assess fetal well-being and interpret contractions.
- Labor Support: Provide 1:1 or 2:1 care during active labor; assist with epidural placement, Pitocin titration, and coaching through the second stage of labor.
- Postpartum & Nursery: Transition to a 3:1 or 4:1 ratio for postpartum couplets, performing fundal checks and assisting with breastfeeding/newborn stabilization.
- Surgical Circulation: Assist and circulate in the OR for Cesarean sections if needed.
- Floating: Required to float as needed; travelers are the first to float and may be sent to other Lee Health sister campuses.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of LDRP experience is strictly required.
- Certifications: Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and NRP required at the time of submission.
- Licensure: Active Florida (FL) or Compact RN License.
- Education: Degree accreditation (CCNE or ACEN) must be on the profile, OR the candidate must have 5+ years of experience.
- Radius Rule: Permanent address must be more than 50 miles from the facility.
Shift & Call Details
- Shift: 11:00 AM – 11:30 PM (Mid-shift).
- On-Call: One 12-hour call shift is required per calendar month.
- Overtime: Daily OT after 24 hours and Weekly OT after 40 hours.
Facility & Submission Notes
- Address: Cape Coral, FL 33990.
- EMR: Epic.
- Submission Requirements: Full demographic info (Address, Email, DOB, SSN, License #) is required for confirmation.
- RTO: All Requested Time Off must be included in the initial submission; no RTO will be approved after confirmation.
- Deadline: Hard document deadline is the Monday prior to the start date. No exceptions.
Clinical Spotlight: The LDRP Continuity Specialist
In an LDRP setting, your clinical agility is paramount. You are not just a "labor nurse" or a "postpartum nurse"; you are the primary clinical advocate for the family unit from the moment of admission to discharge. Your ability to shift gears from the high-intensity monitoring of active labor to the education-heavy focus of the postpartum period is what defines success in this unit. Because Cape Coral is a Level 2 Maternal facility, your proficiency in identifying the early signs of maternal hemorrhage or neonatal distress is vital.
Cape Coral is a "Waterfront Wonderland" with over 400 miles of canals, located just across the river from Fort Myers.
