Description
Must be willing to float between peds and adults
Patient Types:
- Free standing Acute Inpatient facility – contracted ER 5 min away
- All patients come from an ED and are medically cleared
- not typical to have lines, drains, tubes, etc.
- Involuntary and Voluntary admissions
- Ages:
- Peds: ages 5-18 years old
- Adults: 18+ - Geriatric
- Minimum years of experience required: 1 year of Behavioral Health nursing required
- Pediatric BH exp preferred – send to manager for approval if candidate does not have Peds experience
Required Certifications:
- BLS
- MOAB is obtained on site (part of orientation)
- ME State License
Skills required:
- De-escalation experience, experience with physical restraints (chemical restraints are NOT used), medication passes, comfortability to run groups, documentation
- Traveler may have the opportunity to act as Charge, but this is not required
Other notes:
- Scrub Color: any solid color; must be professional
- Free Parking? Yes
- During the winter: Heavy snow conditions expected
- Please convey during interview: If there is an escalation, there is a “code leader” who will assign roles to other staff while code leader is verbally de-escalating patient. Travelers could function as the code leader. Debriefing form should be completed after. Management will also round to code situations to assist. MOAB will be reviewed again when on site. Travelers should speak up if they need more practice with de-escalations. Scenario-based training every other week for practice if needed. MOAB Educator/Trainer on site.
