Job Description: Cardiac Progressive Care Registered Nurse (Contract)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Cardiac Progressive Care Registered Nurse (RN) for a contract assignment in a Progressive Care/Telemetry setting. The RN will provide high-quality patient care, support clinical operations, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced acute-care environment.

Note:

• Candidates without an active Hawaii RN license must apply immediately upon offer acceptance.
• A valid Hawaii RN license is required by the start of the assignment.

Unit Details

• Unit Type: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Bed Count: 15 total
  • 3 Step-down ICU beds
  • 12 Telemetry beds
• Patient Ratios:
  • Progressive Care: 1:4
  • Step-down ICU: 1:3

Shift & Schedule

• Varied shifts
• 36 hours per week after orientation week
• No guaranteed hours
• No call required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide primary nursing care in a Progressive Care/Telemetry environment
• Perform continuous cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation
• Conduct fingerstick blood glucose testing
• Administer medications and manage care plans
• Document accurately in EMR systems
• Collaborate closely with physicians and interdisciplinary staff

Equipment & Systems Used

• Meditech charting
• EPIC EMR
• Pyxis medication dispensing
• BIPAP
• Continuous cardiac monitoring

Required Experience

• Minimum 1 year of recent acute care hospital experience within the last year
• Progressive Care and telemetry experience preferred

Required Certifications

• BLS (required)
• ACLS (preferred or required depending on facility standards)
• PALS (preferred)
• NIHSS (preferred)

Floating Requirements

• RN must be willing to float to all acute-care units as needed, including:
  • Medical
  • Surgical/Pediatrics
  • ICU
  • Emergency Room

Dress Code

• Scrubs

Additional Requirements

• Candidate must be available to arrive the Thursday before the assignment begins to attend a mandatory Employee Health appointment the following Friday.
• Holiday coverage may be required.
