Description

Job Overview

  • Title: Special Procedures Technologist
  • Location: Roper Hospital, Charleston, SC
  • Duration: 13-week assignment (June 8 – Sept 5, 2026)
  • Schedule:
    • Mon–Fri, ~7:00/7:30 AM – 3:30/4:00 PM
    • 40 hrs/week
    • Rotates between Roper Hospital & Roper St. Francis
    • On-call: 1 week every 4 weeks

Core Responsibilities

  • Perform special procedures / interventional radiology (IR) imaging under radiologist supervision
  • Assist radiologists during procedures (vascular, interventional, hybrid OR cases)
  • Ensure patient safety, comfort, and proper preparation
  • Maintain accurate documentation (orders, history, diagnosis)
  • Educate and supervise student radiologic technologists
  • Follow radiation safety standards (ALARA principles)
  • Support team operations and departmental efficiency

Skills & Requirements

Experience

  • Required:
    • 2+ years as Radiologic Technologist OR
    • 1+ year in Special Procedures / Interventional Radiology
  • Must have recent IR/Hybrid OR experience

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited Allied Health program

Certifications (Required)

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-R)
  • American Heart Association BLS
  • South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association Certification

Preferred

  • Vascular Interventional Radiology program completion
  • ARRT VI certification

Key Competencies

  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills
  • Ability to teach and mentor students
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards (OSHA, FDA, TJC, DHEC)
  • Efficient equipment usage & cost awareness
  • Team-oriented mindset with initiative
