Travel RN – Palliative Care | Nights | Teaching Hospital
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Travel Registered Nurse to join a newly established Palliative Care unit within a large teaching hospital. This role focuses on providing comfort, dignity, and symptom management for patients with serious or life-limiting illnesses.
Job Overview
- Specialty: RN – Palliative Care
- Schedule: 3x12s (Night Shift)
- Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: ASAP
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Setting: Palliative Care / Medical-Surgical Unit
Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered care for individuals with serious or life-limiting illnesses
- Manage pain and symptoms such as nausea, fatigue, and discomfort
- Support patients and families through end-of-life care and decision-making
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, social workers, and support services
- Assist with advanced care planning and patient/family education
- Deliver emotional, psychosocial, and spiritual support
- Perform clinical nursing duties including IV management, medication administration, and documentation
- Maintain a dignified and supportive care environment
Requirements
- Active RN license (must be in hand prior to submission)
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience
- Experience in palliative care, hospice, oncology, or med-surg preferred
- Experience with Epic EMR required
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous travel experience
- Strong background in end-of-life care or symptom management
- Excellent communication and emotional intelligence
- Ability to support patients and families in high-sensitivity situations

- Brand new 12-bed palliative care unit opening
- Patient ratio: 1:4
- Travelers may float prior to unit opening for training
- Adult and geriatric patient population
- Teaching hospital environment with strong interdisciplinary support
