Medical Technologist (Microbiology) – Travel Assignment

GHR Healthcare is seeking a Microbiology Medical Technologist for a travel assignment in Plainsboro, NJ. This is a great opportunity to work in a hospital laboratory environment with a strong focus in microbiology and rapid molecular testing.

Position Details

• Weekly Pay: $2,480
• Schedule: 5x8s – 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
• Hours: 40 hours/week
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: May 11, 2026
• Setting: Hospital Laboratory
• Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend + holidays required

What You’ll Be Doing

• Perform microbiology culture setup and processing
• Conduct rapid molecular testing
• Work up positive blood cultures and Gram stains
• Analyze specimens and report accurate results
• Maintain quality control, calibration, and lab equipment
• Follow lab safety, compliance, and documentation standards
• Collaborate with clinical teams to support patient diagnosis and care

Requirements

• ASCP (BOC) Certification – REQUIRED
• 2+ years of hospital laboratory experience REQUIRED
• Strong Microbiology experience preferred
• Experience with:
  • Rapid molecular testing
  • Culture setup
  • Positive blood cultures
  • Gram stains
• Familiarity with LIS systems, QC, and lab safety protocols
• Ability to work both independently and within a team
