Description
RN – Labor & Delivery | 12H Nights
- Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (12-hour nights)
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
- Contract: 13 weeks
- Weekend Requirement: At least 4 of 8 weekends scheduled (may be back-to-back)
- Holiday Requirement: Rotation required
- On Call: None required; optional pick-up
Unit / Patient Population:
- Level III NICU, Newborn Nursery, 25 Mother-Baby beds (overflow Antepartum monitored by LD RNs)
- Labor/Delivery Beds: 7 labor rooms, 2 triage rooms, 2 OR suites, pre-op/PACU beds
- Typical Deliveries: ~1800/year, 4 scheduled events/day (C-sections, versions, etc.)
- Patient Types: PIH, GDM, Pre-Eclampsia, Eclampsia, HELLP, Shoulder Dystocia, Postpartum Hemorrhage, Multiples, Fetal Loss, Drug Addiction
- Mother-Baby / Newborn Care: Labor nurses responsible for documentation of baby vitals and feeds during maternal stay; testing performed by Mother-Baby staff
Patient Ratios:
- Cervical Ripening: 1:1–3
- Laboring: 1:1–3
- Active Labor: 1:1
- Couplet/Postpartum/Antepartum: 3 Mother-Baby couplets or 3 Antepartum/NICU moms
Requirements:
- Experience: ≥2 years in Labor & Delivery; first-time travelers not accepted
- Must have completed at least 1 prior assignment at comparable facility size/acuity
- OB Tech: setup, assist with vaginal deliveries and C-sections, OR duties, sterile equipment handling
- RN: Charge experience preferred; titrate Pitocin, fetal scalp electrodes, cervical exams, assist CRNA with epidural, insulin/magnesium drips, shoulder dystocia management, circulating C-section, newborn care including lactation and skin-to-skin
Certifications:
- RN: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Intermediate or Advanced FHM, MOABCST
- CST: BLS (nationally certified
