Job Title: RN Dialysis
Location: Wilmington, NC
Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (17:45 – 06:15)
Contract Type: Travel / Contract (13 Weeks)
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Dialysis Registered Nurse (RN) for a night shift opportunity in Wilmington, NC. This role involves providing specialized care to patients requiring acute hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis in both unit and bedside settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients with renal conditions
- Perform acute hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis procedures
- Monitor patients during dialysis and manage complications
- Work with critically ill patients (ICU/PCU, ventilators, IV drips, isolation cases)
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for optimal patient outcomes
- Document care using EPIC and communicate via Voalte system
Patient Population
- End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD)
- Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)
- Acute Kidney Injury (AKI)
- Peritoneal dialysis complications or infections
- Transplant rejection requiring dialysis
Schedule & Work Details
- Shift: 12-hour nights (36 hours/week)
- Ratios: 1:1–2
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Call Requirement: None
- Float Requirement: Not required
Note: Based on census, nurses may be assigned departmental tasks if no patient assignment is needed.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of dialysis experience
- Strong acute hemodialysis experience required
- Night shift RNs must be proficient in:
- Cycler use
- CAPD
- PD fluid sampling
- Hemodialysis procedures
- BLS certification (AHA)
Preferred Qualifications
- ACLS certification
- CDN or CNN certification
Unit Details
- Acute Hemodialysis Unit with 9 stations + 1 isolation station
- Two dialysis shifts per day
- Bedside dialysis for ICU/PCU patients
- Patient transport coordinated via EPIC
Equipment & Systems
- Fresenius T Hemodialysis Machines (CliC & Bibag)
- Baxter equipment for Peritoneal Dialysis
- Marcor Millennium HX portable RO machines
- Systems: EPIC, Pyxis, Voalte communication
